The epicenter is in Hatay
An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck the border region between Turkey and Syria on Monday, the European Seismological Center and Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) said.
The epicenter is in the province of Hatay – one of the hardest hit in the previous earthquakes. Witnesses report hearing buildings collapse.
AFAD also reported an aftershock measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale that occurred at 8:07 p.m. local time.
The earthquake was felt in Cyprus and Syria.
