A strong earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale occurred in central Turkey at 9:35 am on Saturday (7/9).
The initial assessment spoke of an earthquake of 5.7 Richter, while then its magnitude was revised to 4.9 Richter and the final measurement showed 4.8 Richter.
The epicenter was recorded, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Institute, at 34 kilometers west-northwest of Gaziantep, while the focal depth was at 10 kilometers.

Turkey’s Emergency and Disaster Management Agency (AFAD) gave the earthquake a magnitude of 5, centered in the city of Pazarcik in Kahramanmaras, with a focal depth of 7 kilometers.
