An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 shook parts of Tuscany on Monday morning. So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
The earthquake’s center was near Marradi, north-east of Florence, and it struck at 5.10am. There were some minor tremors ahead, according to the Italian Geophysical Institute.
The area is considered to have a high risk of earthquakes. An earthquake that hit Mugello in 1919 was among the strongest to hit Italy in the 20th century.
The Italian fire service says they have received a number of calls from concerned residents, but that so far no damage or injuries have been reported.
