ISTANBUL (Turkey) – The drama that has hit Turkey in recent days has marked the entire country. The number of deaths, as the hours go by, continues to rise: over nine deaths from an unprecedented earthquake. Several territories in southern Turkey have been razed to the ground, and new earthquakes have been felt in the last few hours.
The Solidarity Machine
In the Turkish country and in the rest of Europe, the solidarity machine was immediately set in motion to collect basic necessities to be sent to the affected areas. In Istanbul, Galatasaray fans, together with the club, have started a collection to make a significant contribution to humanitarian aid. Former Napoli player Dries Mertens, together with his wife, has come to the fore – not only on an economic level – to give their support. The footballer has actively participated in the last few hours, preparing the shipments that will soon reach southern Turkey.
