A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck the Hindu Kush mountains in Central Asia. The epicenter was in the Afghan province of Badachshan, in the north of the country. The quake occurred at a depth of about 189 kilometers.
The shock was particularly evident in Afghanistan, including in Kabul, but strong tremors were also reported from the Pakistani capital Islamabad and the Indian capital New Delhi.

It is not yet clear whether there have been victims of the earthquake or whether there has been serious damage. Badachshan authorities are still investigating. The images can be seen on social media with minor damage to Afghan, Pakistani and Indian users.
