Earthquake hits the border between Argentina and Chile

The German “GFZ” Center for Earth Research announced today, Tuesday, that an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale has been detected in the border region between Chile and Argentina.

The center said the quake occurred at a depth of 162 kilometers, on the border between the two countries.

On the other hand, the Syrian News Agency reported, yesterday, Monday, that an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit the area northeast of the Syrian city of Hama, while residents in neighboring areas also felt the tremor.

The National Seismological Center said that the stations of the National Seismic Monitoring Network recorded a tremor of 4.1 magnitude on the Richter scale in the northeastern city of Hama with a limit of 27 km and a depth of 5 km at 15:47 local time.

The Syrian News Agency stated that residents in the cities of Hama, Homs and Tartous felt the earthquake, but it did not indicate any injuries or material damage as a result of the earthquake.
