Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called the death toll during the devastating earthquake in the country.
– May the souls of 35,418 of my citizens who died in this catastrophe rest in peace, – said Tayyip Erdoganspeaking at the Disaster Management Center (AFAD) in Ankara.
Earlier, the President said that the earthquake affected an area of 500 kilometers, where a total of 13.5 million people live. He noted that this natural disaster surpassed the earthquake in Erzincan in 1939, when about 33 thousand people died, writes “RIA Novosti”.
Recall that two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred on February 6 in Pazardzhik and Elbistan, Kahramanmarash. A total of 2724 aftershocks were recorded.
