New Delhi: An Indian man has gone missing in the massive earthquake that hit Turkey’s southeast and Syria’s northwest. The missing Indian was on a business visit to Turkey. The Ministry of External Affairs said that 10 Indians are trapped and they are safe. The Ministry also stated that there are a total of 3,000 Indians in Turkey.
“The control room has been set up in Adana, Turkey. 10 Indians are trapped. They are safe. An Indian national who went on a business visit has gone missing. We are in touch with his family and the company in Bengaluru where he works,” said Sanjay Verma, an official of the External Affairs Department.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that India is sending medicines to Syria and rescue workers to Turkey in the name of ‘Operation Dost’. More than 11,000 people were killed in the earthquake. Rescue operations continue in Turkey and Syria. Foreign aid from various countries started reaching the region.
