Earth Is Passed By An Asteroid As Big As The US Pentagon

In addition, NASA warns that a giant asteroid larger than the Eiffel Tower will enter Earth’s orbit in just a matter of days.

The 1,082-foot-tall or 329.7-meter-tall space rock is heading toward Earth and is predicted to pass by our planet on December 11, 2021.

NASA named it Asteroid 4660 Nereus because it is more than 492 feet long and will be within 4.6 million miles of Earth.

That puts it in the “potentially dangerous” category, according to the New York Post page.

However, there is no need to panic, as the Asteroid Nereus is not expected to impact Earth.

If all goes well, the asteroid will be hurtling past our planet at 14,700 miles per hour.

NASA estimates the space rock will be 2.4 million miles away from us.

The asteroid is about 10 times the distance between Earth and the Moon. It may seem quite far away, but it is actually close to Earth.

NASA considers anything that passes within 120 million miles of Earth as an object near Earth.

Any fast-moving space object within 4.65 million miles is considered “potentially hazardous” by the world space organization.

One small change in their trajectory could cause disaster for Earth.
