In 2012, Denise Coates created the Bet365 foundation, which is responsible for financing more than 20 charitable organizations, donating more than 120 million in various social projects. In fact, the businesswoman has used her fortune to finance hospitals and medical research on cancer. In addition, she has donated money to help people who have lost their homes due to natural disasters, has created countless university scholarships and has supported various cultural projects. She also created a study program for youth from Sierra Leone and has donated a lot of money to health workers who have been fighting Covid-19 for the past two years.
According to the British tabloids, Coates is very reserved with her private life, but enjoys being able to help other people, since philanthropy is one of her main precepts. For this reason, Denise Coates decided to adopt four children from the same family so that they could have a home without the need to separate.

“I don’t enjoy people’s attention, the public issue is not for me. And I’m not saying I’m a shrinking woman, because I’m not. I’ve been a boss all my life and I really enjoy running my business. But I’m not a social animal and I think false assumptions have been made about me. I think the media thinks, for whatever reasons, that maybe they have a better story if they lie.” Coates said in an interview, debunking reports that she did not create Bet365, but that it was her father, Peter Coates.
This news infuriated her, since she had invested her effort and knowledge in economics to create one of the most lucrative companies in all of Europe. She developed the Bet365 project while working as an accountant in her father’s company, and took out an 18 million loan to fulfill her dream.
