Residents across the tri-state area have turned out to vote early, and they’ve broken records in the process!
According to the New York City Board of Elections, more than a million people participated in early voting in the five boroughs.
In total, 1,089,328 New York City residents voted early. Although the total for the entire state was just under 3 million, or 2,985,181 to be specific.
The New York City Board of Elections announced that the record in the history of the Big Apple for early voting in one day was broken with 149,319 registered votes on Sunday.
However, the residents of the Big Apple were not the only ones who came out in the highest numbers to make their voices heard.
New Jersey also registered more than 1 million early voters.
“The deadline for early voting was huge! 150,143 New Jerseyans voted early yesterday, breaking records again! More than 1.1 million voters voted early this election cycle,” said Lt. Governor. Tahesha Way in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Meanwhile, Connecticut registered 741,501 early votes.
Early voting took place in New York and New Jersey from October 26 to this past Sunday (November 3). Connecticut had early voting from October 21st to November 3rd.
