NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) – Advance voting begins in New York state on Saturday, giving voters nine days to make their choice before polling day proper.
According to the calendar published by the state government, however, there will be no early voting on November 2; the early voting period in New York will last until November 1, two days before the general election on November 3.
“This is the first time in history that New Yorkers can vote early in a presidential election. Make your voice heard,” Governor Andrew Cuomo tweeted Friday.
This year, registered voters can vote in three ways: by mail ballot, by advance poll in person or by in person vote on polling day. All registered voters can request a postal vote if they are concerned about the COVID-19 outbreak for the November 3 election day.
Across the country, early voting rates have risen significantly this year, as President Donald Trump and his Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden, campaign for the White House.
