Early Version of Ark: Survival Ascended Testing Reveals Game’s Optimization Issues and Performance Challenges

Journalists from DSOGaming decided to test an early version Ark: Survival Ascendeda remaster of Ark: Survival Evolved on Unreal Engine 5. For this they used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, 32 GB DDR5 with a frequency of 6000 MHz, as well as an RTX 4090 graphics card.

As it turns out, the developers from Studio Wildcard still don’t know what optimization is. The remaster suffers from numerous bugs, including visual ones, and brings any video card to its knees. For example, in 4K resolution, a title can produce a stable 60 frames per second on the RTX 4090 only at low settings.

Good news: DLSS 3 Super Resolution and DLSS 3 Frame Generation were added to the game from launch. However, even with them, the RTX 4090 at maximum graphics settings still drops to 50 FPS.

Ark: Survival Ascended will remain in early access until the end of 2024. Perhaps by that time the developers will be able to bring the game to fruition.
