Social Security has done the accounts advances received by caregivers as part of the compensation scheme for loss of activity (Dipa) in 2020. Out of 200,000 liberal caregivers assisted, 114,000 will receive a “supplement”, while 87,000 must reimburse an overpayment. What arouse the incomprehension and the anger of the unions. The National Medicines Safety Agency on Friday authorized the use of Ronapreve, a treatment for Covid-19 with synthetic antibodies, to treat advanced forms of Covid-19.
The Covid-19 pandemic has killed at least 4.5 million people around the world since the end of December 2019, according to a report established this Friday morning by AFP from official sources. The United States is the most affected country in the world with 643,669 deaths, ahead of Brazil (581,914), India (439,895), Mexico (261,496) and Peru (198,364).
- 87,000 caregivers will have to reimburse an overpayment to the Social Security
Of the 200,000 liberal caregivers financially assisted by Social Security at the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, 87,000 will have to reimburse an overpayment, reimbursement which can be spread over 12 months, Health Insurance said on Friday. to AFP. Set up during the first epidemic wave, the compensation system for loss of activity (Dipa) was requested by 203,000 liberal health professionals. All received an advance of around 5,500 euros on average, to compensate for the drop in their income between March and June 2020, linked in particular to confinement.

More than a year after this period, the Social Security has calculated the final amount due for each caregiver. A majority (114,000) will thus receive a “supplement” of an average amount of 3,300 euros, specifies Marguerite Cazeneuve, deputy director of the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam). Conversely, 87,000 “have an overpayment to repay”, nearly 2,700 euros on average. A situation which has aroused for a few days the incomprehension, even the anger of the unions. Among doctors, the UFML denounced a “scam”, while MG France and the CSMF demanded “transparency”, the dentists of the CDF asking to “review the method of calculation”.
“We cannot erase the slate, because it is public money”, explains Ms. Cazeneuve, stressing that Social Security has disbursed a total of nearly 1.3 billion euros for this aid and that ” all those who asked for it received it “. However, the Cnam displays “a doctrine of great flexibility” for the regularization of overpayments. The caregivers concerned will thus be able to obtain a staggered payment over twelve months, upon simple request to their local health insurance fund.
- Early treatment of Covid-19 extended to certain patients already hospitalized
Ronapreve, a treatment for Covid-19 with synthetic antibodies, until then reserved for the prevention of the disease and the fight against its early forms, was also authorized this Friday in France at more advanced stages in patients already to the hospital. “As of September 3, 2021, given the identified medical need for the management of patients with an advanced stage of Covid-19 disease, we are expanding the use of the dual monoclonal antibody therapy casirivimab / imdevimab”, announced in a press release the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM).
This treatment, marketed under the name Ronapreve by the American laboratory Regeneron, was already authorized against early forms of the disease in people at high risk, and to prevent its appearance in immunocompromised. It can now be given at more advanced stages, in patients already hospitalized and at risk of developing a severe form. “This concerns immunocompromised patients, patients at risk of complications linked to comorbidities, patients aged 80 and over,” detailed the ANSM.
The treatment will be reserved for those who need so-called non-invasive oxygen therapy, which excludes in particular intubations, if they have not themselves developed antibodies against the disease. Synthetic antibody treatments are one of the main therapeutic avenues against Covid-19, but have so far been prescribed preventively or shortly after the onset of symptoms.
