One in three French people has an allergy. During the end of February, the good weather rhymes, for some, with the return of symptoms. “For the past few days, I have felt my eyes sting”, comments a walker in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), while another complains of having “itchy eyes” and the nose “flowing a lot”.
These symptoms appear at the end of winter, with the pollination of alders and hazelnuts. “We counted more than 3,000 grains per cubic meter of pollen, explains Cyril Pallares, head of the surveillance unit at Atmo Grand Est. This means that we are at the peak of alder pollination and that the situation will gradually come down, but that the allergic risk can be significant. “ Alsace is on orange alert for allergenic risks. City life, food, pollution or even stress could be responsible for the increase in the number of allergics in France.
