“This type of cancer that starts in the retina is mostly seen in children. Because it is common in young populations, symptoms can be difficult to define but the most common is a white (not red) reflection in the pupil after a photographic flash enters the eye in question and reduces vision,” he explained to Express.co.uk.
“Even though this is difficult for children to communicate, the way to know is if they keep rubbing their eyes or are stressed when their healthy eye is closed,” he continued.
Check for the following symptoms
Although it mostly occurs in children, retinoblastoma can attack people of all ages, according to the British Health Agency (NHS). The NHS asks to be on the lookout for symptoms:
-Eyes looking the other way or squinting.
-Changes in color in the colored part of the eye or iris.
-Swelling around the eyes.
-Uncontrolled eye movements.
-Pain in one or both eyes.

The NHS states, “Retinoblastoma can affect one or both eyes. The main symptom is a white flash or reflection in the center of the eye (pupil). You can immediately see it just by looking into the eye, or in dim light or in a photo that uses a flash.”

“It usually occurs at the back of the eye in the choroid, which is behind the retina. In some cases, there may be no symptoms, depending on the location of the occurrence,” he explained.
