Early Detection of Diabetes: Expert Advice and Tips for Optimal Treatment

Malang Posco Media – Internal Medicine Specialist in the Endocrine, Metabolic and Diabetes Division, namely Dr. Farid Kurniawan, SpPD, PhD, appealed to the public not to be afraid to check blood sugar levels as an early detection step for diabetes. The goal is to ensure optimal treatment early on.

“Don’t be afraid of being diagnosed with diabetes, so you don’t want to check for diabetes early,” said a specialist in internal medicine at the National Central General Hospital, Dr. Cipto Mangunkusomo, in an online discussion monitored from Jakarta, Monday (20/11).

Farid explained that if someone knows about their diabetes condition from an early age, then the management or treatment will be more optimal. According to Farid, good management is very important so that a person can control their blood sugar levels effectively. In this way, the risk of complications due to diabetes will be reduced.

“Diabetes is the mother of all diseases. “Heart disease, stroke and even cancer are also linked to diabetes,” said Farid.

Therefore, Farid continued, people must have the courage to check their blood sugar to detect diabetes early.

Moreover, for someone who has risk factors, such as obesity, having parents or family with a history of diabetes, and an unhealthy lifestyle.

If, for example, it is discovered that he has diabetes, said Farid, the person can go to the doctor regularly and take medication regularly. Apart from that, the person can also maintain a good lifestyle, and the implication is that blood sugar is controlled.

“So you can avoid all kinds of diabetes complications,” said Farid.

He reminded that diabetes can also occur at a relatively young age, namely 20-30 years old. Diabetes, he said, can not only attack elderly people.

Farid appealed, if you have a high frequency of urination, often feel thirsty, feel hungry quickly, lose weight, feel weak, or have recurring infections, you should immediately get checked out.

“As soon as possible, go to the nearest general practitioner or community health center for screening to check blood sugar levels,” said Farid.ntr/mpm)
