JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Eight out of ten babies experience a delay in the diagnosis of critical congenital heart disease. As a result, babies are referred too late and get treatment too late. The risk of death is also high. Therefore, it is very important to screen for critical congenital heart disease in newborns.
Head of the Cardiology Coordination Work Unit (UKK) of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) Rizky Adriansyah, in Jakarta, Monday (12/13/2021), said one out of 100 babies born had congenital heart disease. Of that amount, 25 percent of them are critical congenital heart disease.
