Last season he was one of the top scorers of the Steel Wings Linz in the AlpsHL, but this year he missed almost the entire season due to injury. We’re talking about Niko Lahtinen, who is now moving to the island.
He collected 38 points from 39 season appearances in the 2021/22 season. This year he was injured for a long time and only made his season debut on January 7th, where he scored two goals. Overall, he made six appearances for the Steel Wings this year, scoring four goals and preparing another one. But now the paths separate.
Lahtinen had received an offer from the British Premier League club Nottingham Panthers and asked the Steel Wings officials to terminate the contract early. They complied with the request and said goodbye to him with the following statement:
Steinbach Steel Wings are complying with Niko Lahtinen’s request to terminate his contract early. The 26-year-old Finn joins the Nottingham Panthers for the remainder of the season. We would like to thank our #48 for his commitment in the steel city and wish him all the best for his future!
