Early Access to Resident Evil 4’s Mercenary Mode and Missing Content in Korea

Resident Evil fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries on popular gaming platforms such as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. While the game has become available in some regions, fans have been quick to notice that it is missing two major characters, leaving them disappointed. In this article, we will delve into the details of the game’s release, what fans can expect from the latest installment, and why the absence of these two characters is such a big deal.

The release of Resident Evil 4’s Mercenary Mode is planned for tomorrow, April 7th, but some players in Korea have reported early access to the mode. However, it appears that the early version is missing key content, such as playable characters Ada Wong and Albert Wesker. Capcom had previously announced that the mode would debut on April 7th, and this change in release strategy has led some to speculate that the missing characters may be offered later as paid downloadable content.

Reports of microtransactions have also surfaced, with “upgrade tickets” allowing players to progress faster in their Mercenary Mode runs. The ticket item descriptions suggest that players can redeem them at the Merchant’s shop to access exclusive weapon upgrades that are free of charge once unlocked. As a single-player game mode, this model is likely to be less controversial than pay-to-win models deployed in competitive multiplayer games.

Despite the missing content and microtransactions, players can look forward to experiencing Mercenary Mode, an arcade-style horde mode where players fight infected waves to compete for high scores. IGN has provided a review of the Resident Evil 4 Remake and six cut scenes from the original game for players to check out while waiting for Mercenaries to arrive in their region.

While Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries may be available in select areas, it’s certainly a disappointment for fans of the franchise to learn that two major characters are missing. Nonetheless, the game still promises to provide thrills and suspense for fans of the Resident Evil series. We can only hope that the upcoming release of Resident Evil Village will satisfy fans’ cravings for more characters and content. Until then, fans can enjoy this spin-off entry and dive into the brutal world of mercenaries in Resident Evil 4.
