Earlier than planned: Corsair is also retiring Boeing 747

The French holiday pilot wanted to fly his jumbo jets by 2021. After the restart after the Corona break, Corsair no longer needs the Boeing 747.

The Corona crisis also hits Corsair International hard. The French leisure airline has had to leave its aircraft on the ground since March 26. From June 12, he wants to start up operations again. Then a model is no longer included.

The airline has also shut down its last three 28-year-old Boeing 747-400 in the past few weeks. It does not plan to use it again. “According to our plans, the capacities are simply no longer needed after resumption of flight operations,” explains Peter Oncken, head of the Corsair majority owner Intro Aviation.

Not planned until 2021

One is in “advanced talks” that the jumbo jets are already being floated out. Originally they were supposed to fly until 2021. Intro bought 53 percent of Corsair last year. The seller was Tui. The travel group remains with 27 percent, the rest of the shares are with the staff.

Corsair’s fleet currently consists of six Airbus A330s. The airline has already ordered five A330 Neo from leasing companies.
