Stable economic factor, modern network operator and designer of sustainable energy supply: Even during the Corona crisis, EAM lived up to its role as the region’s energy partner.
“The past time has presented us all with unprecedented challenges,” says the chairman of the management board, Olaf Kieser. “Together with our employees, shareholders, customers and partners, we have mastered these challenges and can look back on a successful year in which we have kept EAM on a stable course despite the difficult times.” Particularly gratifying: The special quality was once again EAM training was awarded the title “Germany’s best training companies” by the magazine Focus Money. This makes the company one of the top five percent of all training companies nationwide in the field of education and training. “Every year, EAM ensures secure jobs, numerous orders to local companies and important inflows of money into the budgets of the districts and municipalities and is an important and reliable partner for the local economy,” explains Olaf Kieser.

Best quality of care
Private and commercial network customers benefit from the above-average quality of supply from EAM. According to statistics from the Federal Network Agency, the regional supplier continuously ranks among the top group of all German network operators in terms of security of supply. “The statistical downtimes in our power grid were 8.4 minutes last year, around 45 percent below the national average of the previous year,” explains EAM Managing Director Hans-Hinrich Schriever. One reason for this is the constant investment in the maintenance, expansion and modernization of our own systems for electricity and gas supply. The electricity and gas network is controlled and monitored around the clock from the central network control center of EAM in Baunatal – the heart of the municipal energy supplier.
On-site energy transition
Refueling with electricity is also an important topic for EAM: The company now operates a total of 126 charging stations for electric vehicles in its network area, 14 of which are fast charging stations. EAM also offers charging solutions for the home – another building block for implementing the energy transition. In addition to expanding electromobility, the municipal energy provider is shaping the energy transition on site at various levels. EAM operates its own wind power plants and supports cities, municipalities and committed citizens in the planning and implementation of wind energy projects. All of the wind turbines projected by EAM to date have been implemented in communal partnerships and supply electricity generated from renewable sources for the needs of almost 60,000 households.

Protection of the climate
EAM has been working intensively on building up and expanding a climate-friendly energy supply for a long time. In the next few years, the company aims to become even greener and more sustainable. “The key to more climate protection is an energy turnaround that saves fossil fuels by expanding renewable energies and increasing energy efficiency,” explains Hans-Hinrich Schriever. “To this end, we are continuously expanding our sustainability management at EAM and developing further innovative ideas.” For Olaf Kieser, protecting the climate is one of the greatest challenges of our time that can only be mastered jointly: “Our aim is to be Energy partner to support the people in the region with intelligent products and services on a sustainable basis.
