When the Eagles meet the Saints in New Orleans today, some will be amazed. The Eagles will play in the game in week 11 as an away team with their home jerseys.
This is due to a golf bet between the two head coaches Sean Payton and Doug Pederson. Bets were made at the coaches tournament in March and Pederson won against Payton. He himself sees the reason that Payton lost as follows:
There’s a good chance it involved me being in the water
According to Pederson, owner Jeffrey Lurie and VP of Football Operations Howie Roseman were pleasantly surprised by the bet and its outcome.
“You couldn’t believe it. But we had a great day and it was fun and exciting. ” said Pederson to the bet.
Pederson and Payton bet again in July at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe and Pederson won that bet too. As a result, Payton had to donate to the Eagles Autism Challenge.
