Quarterback Carson Wentz (28) could apparently leave the Philadelphia Eagles shortly: How ESPN reports, a trade is looming, Wentz could get a new home at the beginning of the coming week.
The Eagles have been in negotiations with several teams for over a week, most recently the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts were considered potential buyers. The Eagles should demand “a Matthew Stafford package” for Wentz.
Stafford had recently been traded to the Los Angeles Rams by the Detroit Lions, in return the Lions received two first round picks and one third round pick. However, they also had to take over the previous Rams quarterback Jared Goff and his expensive contract.
According to Philly, he would have no problem going into the coming season with Wentz in the squad. However, the Pro Bowler from 2017 had lost his starting place in the past season to rookie Jalen Hurts and was far from able to build on the performances of previous years.
The Eagles pulled Wentz second in the draft in 2016. In the 2018 season, the team won the Super Bowl, but Wentz was missing from the playoffs due to a back injury: the quarterback at that time was Nick Foles.
