Eagles Announce Farewell Tour “The Long Goodbye”

World famous for their hit “Hotel California”, the American group Eagles announced on Thursday a farewell tour entitled “The Long Goodbye”, which will begin in New York in September and could well continue, after half a century of career.

The Californian rockers of the group Eagles will perform for thirteen initial dates in the United States, from September to November, but “they will give as many shows” as “the public requests” and anticipate that the tour could extend until 2025, they say in their press release.

The tour, titled “The Long Goodbye,” will begin Sept. 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

“Our long journey has been far longer than any of us ever imagined. But everything has an end and the time has come for us to come full circle,” say the musicians, including the band’s veteran Don Henley.

At the top of the charts

Formed in 1971 and fronted by vocalist and drummer Don Henley and guitarist Glenn Frey, who died in 2016, the Eagles topped the US charts in the 1970s with their hits “Take It Easy”, “One of These Nights” and ” Hotel California”, songs that remain classics to this day.

This somewhat indolent rock, with a lot of vocal harmonies, will earn Eagles the hatred of punks. The group evokes the myths of America and the conquest of the West, but also its dark sides like alcohol and drugs, which is also told by its greatest success, “Hotel California”.
