Eagle Pass, Texas, authorities announced that the law will be enforced for all commercial transport trucks and hazardous materials coming from Mexico, since they must use the established route when crossing the port of entry to the United States.
In a press conference held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the City Hall building, members of the Eagle Pass fire department and police, announced how they will proceed in the circulation of cargo transportation, with the purpose of to exercise control of the trailers and avoid serious accidents as have already occurred in previous situations.
Lieutenant Amy González, from the police department, and Deputy Fire Chief Rodolfo Cardona, explained that trucks coming from Mexico should circulate on Loop 480 and take Highway 57 if that is the case.
The same is true for transportation that comes from other cities in the United States and that travels along Highway 57 in the direction of the International Bridge 2 to cross into Mexico, it must take the same route, other routes have also been established, such as the highway to El Indio, the Veterans Boulevard and Highway 277.
The authorities specified that cargo transport may only enter the city limits when they verify that they are going to deliver merchandise to a business or require fuel, otherwise they will be subject to fines.
