EADaily reports that Ukraine has prohibited competitions involving athletes from Russia and Belarus.

Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Zhan Beleniuk published an order of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine to ban athletes from participating in competitions in which athletes from Russia and Belarus participate. For violation of the order, sports federations will lose funding.

“So we waited for the official order,” the deputy wrote on Thursday in his Telegram channel and posted photos of the document.

“Forbid the official delegations of the national teams of Ukraine to take part in international sports competitions in which athletes from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus take part”, – the order says.

The document instructs ministry officials to recall delegations from business trips if Russian and Belarusian athletes participate in competitions. Officials must also monitor competitions, and if violations of the order are detected, they must submit documents to deprive the federation for this sport of the status of a national one. It is this status that entitles federations to state funding.

The photo of the order does not indicate the date, the deputy also does not specify from what moment the document begins to operate. Information about the order has not yet been posted on the website and social networks of the Ministry of Sports.

The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly demanded a ban on the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in competitions. On March 28, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes be allowed to participate in international competitions in a neutral status, and only those who have not publicly spoken out in support of the special operation in Ukraine and are not associated with the armed forces or national security agencies. At the same time, Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be represented in team sports.

On March 31, Oleg Nemchinov, a member of the executive committee of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, who is a minister of the country’s cabinet of ministers, said that Ukrainian athletes would not participate in the qualifying competitions for the 2024 Summer Olympics, in which Russian athletes would compete.
