The NHL’s premier global esports competition – EA SPORTS™ NHL 23 World Championship 2023™ – is back with more ways to compete and win than ever before.
Qualifying for the NHL 23 European Chel Showdown took place over four days from February 9th to 12th. The top 32 players on the PS5 console will advance to bracket play, which will be held virtually on February 25th and 26th. Only four players will advance to the KO rounds before the Chel Showdown Championship is declared.

The EA SPORTS NHL 23 Stadium Series Open Finals will be held as part of the Truly Hard Seltzer NHL® PreGame Celebrations at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, NC on Saturday February 18th. The event will also be streamed live on the NHL’s Twitch channel and ELEAGUE TV between 2:30 pm – 6 pm ET.

Justin Reguly enters this year’s NHL 23 World Championship as the reigning North American club champion, having won his second title in three years in Montreal last June. The 21-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ontario has an impressive record in NHL gaming events, including a 2020 NHL GWC Canadian Championship title and a 2018 GWC Regional Finalist finish. Over the years, he has Won multiple NHL club gaming events including Caps Gaming, Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens and Leafs Gaming League. Ez-Regs, an NHL player for Lazarus esports, represents Canada and recently qualified for the IIHF tournament for the second year in a row. When birthdays bring good fortune, we can expect great things from Reguly, who turns 22 on the day of the Stadium Series final.

Dylan Dodson’s hockey skills extend beyond the virtual ice. He was a member of the Sioux Falls Power 15U AAA team during the 2019-20 hockey season and played three seasons for the Farmington Tigers of the Minnesota USHS League, finishing his high school career with 49 points in 63 games. Dods is also becoming a staple in NHL esports circles, qualifying for the top-8 of the MassMutual NHL East Division Playoffs during the 2021 NHL Gaming World Championship. His dream job is to become NHL general manager.

Jacob Franken is a competitive NHL player, Twitch streamer and a Top 8 PS4 finalist in 2022. He also represented Team Top Chelf at the 2021 NHL Gaming World Championship. Do a little research and you’ll find out too that Yab0yfrank was a competitive ice hockey and ball hockey player growing up – he played for the U18 AAA CAC Canadians in the AMHL for several years. Franken was named the 2017 Alberta Elite Hockey League’s Most Athletic Player.

Francois-Xavier Boily has been active in the NHL scene for several years. He played on a competitive team of 6 at the 2022 CBJGaming event, won the 2021 Capitals Club Championship, is a member of League Gaming and has competed in several other NHL gaming events in the past. An electrician by trade, Boilyxhp not only shows off his skills on the virtual ice, but also plays as a forward for the Saint-Eustache Patriotes in Quebec’s Metropolitaine Junior AA Hockey League. In 23 games he has 5 goals and 16 assists.
