Recently reported we about the October UK video game sales figures, which revealed that digital sales were down, physical sales were up, and that EA Sports FC 24 was the best-selling game in the scariest month of the year. In Europe, the trend was the same.
Because like Gamesindustry.biz writes, EA’s latest football venture was the best-selling game in all of Europe in October. Although sales of EA Sports FC 24 were down by 10% compared to FIFA 23, it was still more than enough to secure the title of giant of the month.
Then followed Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which narrowly managed to outsell Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, probably because it was on sale for two weeks longer. Mirage reportedly sold 49% less than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in its first four weeks, but 22% more than Odyssey and 6% more than Origins. The Spider-Man sequel increased by 30% compared to the first Spider-Man game, and was almost three times what Miles Morales was able to achieve. However, Spider-Man 2 was down 28% compared to what God of War: Ragnarök managed last year.
As expected, Super Mario Bros. Wonder in fourth place, but since Nintendo doesn’t disclose digital sales data, it could have sold better and placed higher on the charts.
The rest of the month’s top ten in Europe consists of Grand Theft Auto V, Lords of the Fallen, Battlefield 2042, Hogwarts Legacy, Red Dead Redemption 2 and It Takes Two.
The data also shows that game sales in Europe in October only fell by 2.3%, which is pretty impressive considering that a major Call of Duty debuted in October. In terms of hardware, it’s not surprising that the PS5 tops the charts, with the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X in second and third place respectively. It is said that 481,000 consoles were sold in the European markets last month.
