EA DICE LA to from now Ripple Effect Studios. This name was changed by the employees of the developer from Los Angeles, who so far was known mainly for supporting the main branch of DICE in subsequent hits Battlefield. Christian Grass (main studio manager) emphasized that although the team will not forget their roots, their ambition is to set standards both with their games and with the process of creating them by promoting a positive work culture;
Our ambition is to become a studio that is perfect not only in the production of games, but also in the process of creating them. This philosophy applies to everything from constantly improving our production process to cultivating a positive company culture and developing a vibrant community.
We are very proud of our work as DICE LA, and the DICE team will forever remain part of our DNA. Nevertheless, over the past eight years we have developed our own culture and our own way of operating. We are excited: we look ahead, enlarge the team and shape our own identity.
The newly renamed team will be led by Grass Vince Zampell, who will also continue to lead the Respawn Entertainment studio he founded. It is Zampella who talks about the need to change the image of EA DICE LA at the beginning of 2020 (via Los Angeles Times). Apart from the assurances of the developers ‘talent and ambitions, the announcement reveals the developers’ upcoming plans. First, they are working on a player-inspired experience within the Battlefield 2042. We will learn more about this by St. coming weeks.
Secondly, Ripple Effect Studios is already starting to create their own, as yet undisclosed production. Perhaps it will be another FPS, as Christian Grass will admit in an interview with IGN service many of the hired developers are veterans of shooters and it would be worth using their experience.
