Unmitigated, launching from IGN, Wednesday (10/2), EA poured funds of up to USD 2.1 billion or around Rp. 29 trillion for the acquisition of Glu Mobile.
Glu Mobile is a mobile game studio that has released several well-known game titles, such as Diner Dash, Disney Sorceror’s Arena, WWE Universe, and Kim Kardashian Hollywood.
In its official statement, the acquisition by EA is the company’s effort to expand its mobile game portfolio to more genres, such as sports, RPG, lifestyle, casual, to the middle class.
Thanks to this acquisition, Glu Mobile will get global distribution access and licensing from EA. Glu Mobile’s experience to monetize a number of game genres, especially sports and casual, is also a plus point for EA.
In addition, as many as 500 game developers and 800 employees owned by Glu Mobile, are now under the auspices of EA.
“The mobile platform will continue to grow in the world’s largest gaming industry. With the addition of Glu’s gaming and talent, EA can double the size of our mobile business,” said EA CEO Andrew Wilson.
