EA apologizes for the low number of black streamers in The Sims 5 announcement broadcast

Last week, EA held a great presentation during which it announced The Sims 5. Not much time has been spent on the new part of the franchise, mostly the developers have been talking about other things. For example, they thanked the streamers for their love of the franchise.

It was for this segment of the study’s broadcast that it landed on social networks. The tweet noted that during the entire excerpt, the developers only showed one black streamer.

The allegations were so serious that EA apologized:

You are right in your disappointment and we have failed you. We owe it to you and each of our black streamers and players to make sure you are seen and recognized for what you bring to The Sims.

Our streamer segment at The Sims Summit is not a fair representation of our large community of players. Black simmers deserve to be represented in everything we do in The Sims, so we take responsibility for this mistake and will try to improve.

In the comments to the post, fans said it was just “empty words” and demanded “really meaningful action” from EA. Apparently, there will be a lot more black streamers in the upcoming The Sims video.

The Sims 5 will be released someday on some platforms, including mobile.
