E-Sports – Team Liquid wins after break of Valorant Challengers – Sport

Berlin (dpa) – For a long time, fans of the Valorant scene did not know whether the Challengers tournament in the EMEA region, to which Europe belongs, would be played this weekend. In the end, the game was limited.

Only three of the originally scheduled six games took place – including the game between Team Liquid and LDN UTD. Here, the professionals from the Dutch e-sports organization secured a secure 2-0 win.

Liquid pro praises team, G2 loses to world champion

“Really good performance from us today,” Liquid’s captain Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen tweeted after the match. “Let’s keep this momentum for the coming games.”

Also in action, but not successful: G2 Esports. The team of Russian coach Daniil “pipsoN” Meshcheryakov suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat in a duel with world champions Acend.

The fact that G2 played came as a surprise, especially because matches involving Russian teams or players were postponed – also with regard to the Russian attack in Ukraine.

Matches with Russian participation postponed

The Russian team Gambit Esports was affected by the recent game postponements, but the teams from Fnatic and Guild Esports also had to sit out. Both teams have one player from Russia in their squad.

Also not in action: the professionals from Natus Vincere. The team of the Ukrainian esports organization consists of professionals from Russia and Belarus.
