Cologne (SID) – Many young people dream of a career as an esports professional. This was the result of a representative survey carried out by the polling company YouGov on behalf of game, the association of the German games industry. According to this, 28 percent of 16- to 24-year-olds would aim for a career as an eSportsman if they could continue their school or professional career.
25 percent are in the 25 to 34 age group and twelve percent of the total of 2034 respondents. In addition, esports athletes are now enjoying increased recognition in Germany. 21 percent of those surveyed see eSports as role models. The eSports player foundation, of which game is a partner, sees the results as confirmation of its work.
“The current figures impressively demonstrate the potential for us as a society in eSports”, said Jörg Adami, the managing director of the eSport player foundation. The foundation’s work therefore “focuses not only on improving playful skills but also on the personal development of the best talents,” says Adami.
