Cologne (SID) – The eSport-Bund Deutschland (ESBD) has addressed politicians with a five-point plan. The demands on a possible traffic light coalition are intended to help create “positive framework conditions” for Germany as a location for eSports. “The eSport location Germany has a lot of potential that needs to be leveraged. The failures of the past few years must not be repeated,” said ESBD President Daniel Luther.
According to the ESBD, one goal is to develop a future strategy together with the new federal government. For this purpose, the non-profit status for eSport clubs is to be recognized, “institutional and project-related federal funding” to be established for eSport and research, the debate on eSport to be made more objective and the international cultural exchange to be strengthened. The grand coalition had already anchored the recognition of eSports in its contract in 2018, but fell short of expectations.
