Awe – Justin Otholt and Nick Büsing from SV Brake are regional cup winners in e-football. They beat the second team from FC SF Godensholt in the final on Saturday in Ovelgönne. Godensholter Erste took third place in the VGH Masters. 13 teams from the Jade-Weser-Hunte regional association took part. Also at the start of the Wesermarsch were the hosts SC Ovelgönne, last year’s winners FC Stollhamm and the Berne game association.

shock

The Brakers had already made an exclamation point in the first game. They beat Stollhamm. However, the Stollhammer did not arrive with the best line, says Otholt. The Butjenters were eliminated after the preliminary round.

The Brakers then suffered a narrow defeat against their opponents in the final. “You noticed you had to get used to it a bit,” said Otholt.

However, he sat down confidently at the tables in the SC Ovelgönne clubhouse. After all, he has been playing for a long time – and successfully. Among other things, he won the “Werder Esports Fifa 21 Cup Qualifications” in the Weser Stadium in 2021 – in singles.

Lots of experience

He has also been playing with his teammate Nick Büsing for a long time – against each other and together in co-op mode. “Two-by-two is something completely different,” says Otholt. Both have the chance to go even better on each other until February 1 next year. Then they fight for the Lower Saxon championship. “It will be a unique experience,” Otholt believes. He certainly sees opportunities for his team, but it is suspected that the opposition will be even stronger than in Ovelgönne.

A strong team

For Otholt and Büsing he works on the console and also on the football field. You play for SV Brake’s reserve team. The team around the captain Marc Speer is second in the table in the 2nd district class (season 3) and is therefore in a place of promotion. The Brakers are level on points with league leaders FC Mariensiel. Both top teams are winless.

The team did well last season, says Otholt. This year things are going well thanks to some consolidation. “We are heard well and there is a good feeling in the team,” said Otholt. He believes that the team can achieve promotion to regional class 1.

Coach of the D-Jugend

Otholt passes on his knowledge as a player to young footballers. He trains SV Brake’s first youth D team. According to Otholt, the team, which was almost completely back, took fourth place in group one of the qualifying round in the first district class. The team had to contend with many injuries and absences due to illness, says Otholt.

But he is optimistic through and through. In the second half of the season he and his team are aiming for one of the two main places. He proved on Saturday in Ovelgönne that he can be successful with his positive attitude.
