Waldmünchen.In the past few days, several cases of extortion letters have been reported to the police across Bavaria. The Waldmünchen police station is now warning of the perpetrator.
According to police, the blackmailer alleged in an email that the device was infected by a virus, the victim’s hard drive was copied and the data was published by the blackmailer. This can be averted by the victim by transferring a mostly three-digit amount of money to a so-called Bitcoin account.
The police warn that such transfers should not be carried out under any circumstances. Under criminal law, this is at least an attempt at extortion in accordance with the Criminal Code.
When receiving such an e-mail, the officers ask you to report this to the local police station.
