E-Course: Post-Production Editing – Introducing peripherals and editing systems that evolve with the changing times[Inter BEE 2024の歩き方] – PRONEWS: A complete guide that gathers all information about video production

This course is about post-production, which improves the quality of images. EIZO presented the results of a new reference study. We want you to see for yourself the high brightness of 1000cd / m2 and the high contrast of 1 million: 1. Also interesting is the presentation of editing systems from different companies that are compatible with services such as AI and the cloud. In particular, TriCaster plans to present a new product with flexibility.

01 EIZO(#7413)
30.5-inch HDR reference monitor “ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG1”

At the EIZO booth, the recently released HDR reference monitor “ColorEdge transparency CG1(hereinafter referred to as CG1)” premiered in Japan. We recommend an advanced HDR production environment based on CG1 for post-production and broadcast stations. In addition, there will be a demonstration of how to use the API* of the network color management solution “ColorNavigator Network,” which was launched for free in August. The company will introduce EIZO’s next-generation color management solution.

* Using the ColorNavigator Network API, you can develop programs that manage multiple ColorEdges centrally by connecting to different functions of the ColorNavigator Network from an external system. For example, through the AI chat service, you can immediately get information such as the serial number and usage time of multiple ColorEdges, reducing the time needed to manage monitors.

At the company’s booth, a dark room has been set up so you can experience the power of the new HDR reference monitor. We will also recommend a 4K HDR color grading environment that uses CG1 and DaVinci Resolve video editing software.

Among the ColorEdge series for video production, the CG1 is a reference monitor suitable for color grading work that makes final color adjustments to content. While it inherits the various video output functions of previous models, it follows a faithful image quality more suitable for a reference monitor, and achieves high display performance using a special EIZO algorithm. The company says it will strongly support post-production operations for not only SDR but also HDR video.

■ CG1 evolution points (appeal points)

Compatible with “SMPTE ST 2110” video transmission standard

This is the first monitor from the company that is compatible with SMPTE ST 2110, the standard that defines the transmission method for video data over IP networks. It can handle video sent in uncompressed format over an IP network, supporting the construction of a more efficient production workflow.

Compatible with HDMI FRL transmission mode

Compatible with HDMI FRL (Fixed Level Link) transmission mode. When connected via HDMI, it supports 4K resolution and 12-bit input, allowing you to display images with higher resolution and smoother levels. In addition, an ultra-fast HDMI cable compatible with FRL is included as standard.

EIZO’s unique algorithm improves display performance compared to previous models

In pursuit of a data-fidelity display suitable for a reference monitor, image quality when displaying high and low brightness ranges and viewing angle characteristics from diagonal directions have been improved from the previous model, the CG3146. Changes in color tone due to viewing position and angle are reduced, and even when several people are looking at the monitor, a constant color tone is reproduced from every corner of the screen.

Achieves significant weight loss

The cover is made of light industrial aluminum material, reducing the weight by about 34% compared to the previous CG3146 model. It is also equipped with a foot on the back for convenient transportation, reducing the burden of installation.

■ Main features of CG1

Built-in calibration sensor that can accurately measure a high brightness of 1000cd/m2

By using the free dedicated color management software “ColorNavigator 7”, you can easily calibrate the display according to target brightness, color temperature, gamma (EOTF), color gamut, etc., and the settings according to the possible irregular camera log. In addition, regular adjustments are made automatically, correcting deviations in brightness and chroma due to aging, and always maintaining an accurate HDR display.

  • Accurately display HDR images with a high brightness of 1000cd/m2 and a high contrast of 1 million:1
  • Compatible with Hybrid Log Gamma mode and PQ mode, both HDR exclusive gamma (EOTF)
  • Wide color gamut that faithfully reproduces DCI-P3 and BT.2020 digital cinema standards
  • Equipped with 4 systems of SDI terminals, 2 systems of input/output terminals that support up to 12G-SDI, and 2 systems of input/output terminals that support up to 3G-SDI, and which could be connected directly to a shooting camera.
  • Equipped with one HDMI and one DisplayPort outlet, and also supports video formats. HDMI input supports up to 4:4:4 12bit at 50/60p, DisplayPort input supports up to 4:4:4 10bit at 50/60p
  • Equipped with a Sync Signal function that automatically changes color settings
  • Equipped with a Pixel Check function that prevents rework of production work due to positioning errors
  • Equipped with special functions for video production such as zoom function, out-of-gamut warning function, and brightness warning function.
  • Equipped with an adjustment dial on the front of the house, allowing you to change monitoring settings smoothly and accurately.

02 AJA/Vizrt/iodyne/Kiloview/GB Labs (#4512)
