E.coli bacteria in the water supply of a village in Argeș | Romania

A village in Argeş was left without drinking water after specialists from the Public Health Directorate found the E.coli bacterium in the supply network.

A village in Argeş was left without drinking water after specialists from the Directorate of Public Health found the E.coli bacterium in the supply network.

People will get water from the sources indicated by the town hall and those who cannot move will receive natural water.

According to the county’s Directorate of Public Health, it’s not the same E.coli bacterium that sickened several children earlier this year.

The presence of bacteria emerged after a check that the Argeş Public Health Directorate carried out for the water supply network in the village of Galăşeşti, belonging to the municipality of Budeasa.

According to the analysis report, the water contains coliform germs, but is absolutely free of chlorine, a situation which has led to the suspension of the water supply by the local operator.

Adrian Stoica, epidemiologist and deputy director of the Argeş Public Health Directorate: “The Public Health Directorate ordered the network operator together with the mayor’s office to inform the population not to consume water anymore. Three days were given to remedy the situation, after which he has to repeat the water analysis”.

Until the supply network operator receives the green light from the Argeş Directorate of Public Health, the citizens of Gălăşeşti village will be supplied by other water sources indicated by the town hall, and people who cannot move will receive natural water
