E-bike with mid-engine at a hammer price – Pedelec in the technology check

In keeping with the season getting better and better, Aldi Nord is selling a well-equipped e-bike this week for only 999 euros. A mid-engine is used, which ensures a significantly more pleasant driving experience. GIGA does the technology check.

Aldi sells a mid-engine e-bike for 999 euros

Update from April 11th, 2020: The e-bike is officially only available today from Aldi Nord in the branches. If you are interested, you should take a look today to see if any are still available in the branches. If not all bicycles have been sold, it is quite possible that they can still be found in the branches after Easter.

Original article:

Aldi e-bikes are very popular. They offer good equipment at an affordable price. This year Aldi Nord is once again launching an e-bike with a special feature. Instead of relying on a drive on the rear or front wheel, the support is generated by a mid-engine. This has the advantage that the driving behavior is very pleasant and you are neither pushed nor pulled. In some situations, such as in curves or in the rain, this is a huge advantage and was previously only used in more expensive models. It will be sold from April 8, 2020.

Otherwise, the Aldi e-bike offers the following features:

  • Aluminum frame
  • Mid-engine with 50 Nm and 250 watts
  • LG battery with 461 Wh
  • LC screen with lighting, speedometer, power control and much more.
  • LED headlights
  • 7-speed gearshift
  • Hydraulic rim brake
  • Range up to 140 km

In contrast to previous campaigns, this time Aldi Nord only sells a low-entry e-bike for men and women. Whether this really appeals to everyone remains to be seen. Otherwise, the equipment of the pedelec is convincing and the price of 999 euros seems justified. In the video below, the Aldi pedelec is presented again in detail:

Aldi e-bike: is it worth buying?

If you are currently looking for an e-bike and do not want to spend too much money, you can get the Aldi Pedelec for 999 euros. You get good equipment and a mid-engine that you would normally only find in much more expensive e-bikes. But only one frame size is sold, which Aldi does not even specify. So you have to go to the store and do a seat test to see if the bike fits. In times of the corona virus, this may not be the best idea.
