A video clip was made for the song “Džambulaja” during the commemorative concert of the legendary singer Andrejs Lichtenbergs “Northern Serenade” in May.
An excellent trio of men – Mārtiņš Kanters, Normunds Rutulis and Andris Ārglis – joined together for the recording of the song “Đambulaja”. They have conjured up feelings in the best traditions of Latvian pop music that will bring back memories of Andrejs Lichtenberg’s 70s dance evenings in the club “Dravāšīga”. “I believe that Lichtenberg is an undeservedly forgotten pop star. I am a big fan of his music, so we will be happy to hold a concert in his honor,” says Mārtiņš Kanters, the author of the idea.
As for the song “Jambulaya”, it was created in 1952 by Hank Williams – the first superstar of the American country genre. The song became a hit, which was later sung in various languages, and Latvia was not an exception – with the rendition of Alfrēdas Krūkls, Andrejs Lichtenbergs sang it in 1978 together with the group “Selga”. At that time, no proper party was complete without this song. It is significant that the song tells about a special meeting in May, and it will take place this time as well – the day before Lichtenberg’s birthday, that is, on May 21, a commemorative concert dedicated to Andrej “85th Northern Serenade for Andrej Lichtenberg” will be performed in the cultural palace “Ziemeļblāzma”.
For the concert, Normunds Rutulis, Mārtiņš Kanters and Andris Ārglis have joined forces to sing the most popular and beloved songs of Andrejs Lichtenberg – “The Power of Nine Men”, “Vakaras ziezma”, “Ziemeļu serenade”, “Zemes vējš” and many other melodies from the 70s. The musical performer of the concert will be a group led by Jura Kristons – Edijs Šimiņš (drums), Modris Laizāns (bass), Jānis Kalniņš (guitar), trio “Oranžas” (vocals), Zintis Žvarts (saxophone), Sandris Skeranskis (trumpet), Ainars Ansons ( trombone).
