The letters “LX” from the title movie title refer to the lithium pill, which in 2048 is the daily medicine of every human being. “001LithiumX” prevents the depression that the entire population tends to have. The human layer of the ozone layer has so thinned that the sun’s rays irreversibly burn the skin. Nightlife and an escape to virtual reality became the logical solution.
Adam Bird (James D’Arcy) is one of the few who, in a protective suit, still ventures into daylight. However, he soon finds out that he has a sick heart and, thanks to the government’s insurance plan, will be replaced by his improved clone after his death. But Adam does not give up and sets out to find a solution that could prolong his life.
The plot of the film is reminiscent of sci-fi concepts from the series Black Mirror (2011–2019) or, for example, American film Marjorie Prime (2017), which dealt with the holographic reconstruction of the deceased. According to the trailer, it won’t be either LX 2048 save on the demonstration of impressive modern technologies.
Reinforcements from the Avengers, Star Wars and the Borgians
The screenwriter and director of the film is Guy Moshe, an Israeli native. In 2006, he released his first feature film – a drama Holly about the friendship of a twelve-year-old Vietnamese girl and a dealer of stolen goods. He was responsible for a much larger production in 2010 with action fantasy Bunrakustarring Josh Hartnett, Woody Harrelson or Demi Moore. Since then, Moshe has not filmed anything, but he has produced works by other directors and participated in a horror screenplay. Grizzly killer (2015).
Brit James D’Arcy has been seen in dozens of different roles since the 1990s. In the last five years alone, he has played in the sci-fi Wachowski sisters Jupiter is coming out (2015), in an adaptation of a criminal bestseller Snowman (2017) and war drama Dunkerk (2017). In the series Agent Carter he embodied Edwin Jarvis, a faithful butler of the Stark family, from whom Iron Man himself arose, and had the same cameo in Avengers: Endgame (2019).
In the supporting role we will see in LX 2048 actress Gina McKee, who is known, for example, from the series Borgiové (2011-2013) or Bodyguard (2018). Anna Brewster again starred in the historical series Versailles (2015–2018) and blinked as a first-order informant in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).
LX 2048 will premiere on VoD services such as Amazon or iTunes on September 25, 2020.
