If you are not sure whether you vacuumed every nook and cranny, Dyson CleanTrace might be something for you, as it is a tool that makes it possible to see exactly where you have cleaned and not cleaned – directly on the mobile phone, which is mounted on the vacuum cleaner.
CleanTrace uses LiDAR technology from the user’s phone to map the room, and with the help of AR (augmented reality) it shows where you cleaned and where you didn’t. And when you’ve finished cleaning, you can scan the room with your phone to see if you’ve missed anything.
A compatible model
Currently, only the Dyson Gen5Detect stick vacuum cleaner is compatible with CleanTrace, and it requires an iPhone with LiDAR to work, which means you need an iPhone 12/13/14/15 Pro or Pro Max .
We realized that we could all learn a thing or two from our robotic vacuum cleaners’ methodical way of cleaning. Unlike most human cleaners, Dyson’s robots know where they are in the room, where they’ve been and where they haven’t been. With Dyson CleanTrace, we add this extra layer of cleaning intelligence to the Gen5detect vacuum cleaner. It gives you the opportunity to see where you cleaned and where you didn’t, which combined with our built-in particle detection provides proof that the floor has really been cleaned,” says Charlie Park, Chief Technologist at Dyson Home.
Price and availability
The Dyson CleanTrace and the Dyson CleanTrace phone clamp (which is the phone holder) will be available from June 2024, and no price has yet been announced.
Cleaning with the help of lasers
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – there are more fun things than cleaning. But luckily, there are people who actually do their utmost to make the whole thing both easier and more fun.
