A Star Wars-style Dynasty Warriors game is at the top of the producer’s wish list for the long-running franchise. But whether it will actually be made is another matter.

Producer Akihiro Suzuki of Japanese developer Omega Force spoke to the German JPGames about Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires, the most recent game in the series released last year. Of course, the German medium also took the space to ask Suzuki which crossover he would most like to make. Franchises such as Zelda, Persona, Dragon Quest and One Piece have been adapted before.

“Many different IPs have already been put forward within the development team,” says Suzuki. “But my own wish would be that we go for a Star Wars crossover.” The Dynasty Warriors development team is not totally unfamiliar with sci-fi series in their musou games; in 2007 Omega Force made Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, after the famous Japanese sci-fi anime.
De Wacht wonders how realistic the possibility of a Star Wars game in a musou-jacket actually is. Disney has broadened its horizons quite a bit when it comes to licensing Star Wars in games in recent years. Last January, another open-world Star Wars game made by Ubisoft was announced, and three new Star Wars games from Respawn Entertainment were announced last month.
