Dynamo Dresden continues to dream of promotion to the 2nd league – and at the same time sends FSV Zwickau down to the regional league!
Joy and frustration are close together in the sold-out GGZ Arena in Zwickau: 10,134 spectators see a 1-0 victory for the black and yellow. Dynamo still have the best chances in the promotion race with 66 points two games before the end of the season. For the FSV, on the other hand, is going back to the regional league after seven years.
Dynamo fans climb onto the stadium roof
Curious and daring action before kick-off: around 20 hooded Dresden fans climbed onto the roof of the guest grandstand to hang up a large dynamo banner. Only when the supporters had left the roof and the flag was rolled up could the game start 13 minutes late.
On the field, the initial phase belongs to FSV, who cannot take advantage of their chances (Johan Gómez 6th, Dominic Baumann 15th). Dynamo also reported in the 18th minute: Niklas Hauptmann, who had just seen his 10th yellow card and will be absent in Meppen, hit the post. The game remains open after that. Baumann missed the Zwickau lead with a header (24th).
On the other hand, Hauptmann does it better. 35 minutes: FSV goalkeeper Johannes Brinkies is able to fend off his first attempt, and Hauptmann sinks the rebound into the box to make it 1-0 from a Dynamo perspective.
After the change of sides, coach Markus Start’s team want to quickly clear things up. Ahmet Arslan (53rd), Christian Conteh (60th) and Tim Knipping (73rd) missed the 2-0. Dynamo has to tremble and is lucky that FSV striker Jan-Marc Schneider heads just over the goal in the 77th minute and a deflected shot from Gómez rolls just a few centimeters wide of the post (83rd).
