The relegation participant from the 2nd Bundesliga has now finally been determined: On May 20th, Dynamo Dresden will visit the third-placed team in the 3rd division – possibly 1. FC Kaiserslautern – and will play the second leg on May 24th at home.
Because Erzgebirge Aue could not win at Darmstadt 98 in the evening game of the second division (final result: 0:6), it is clear that Aue will play third-class alongside Ingolstadt in the future – and Dresden will reach for the last lifeline in the relegation. The probability is high that it will then go against the Red Devils, where after today’s 1: 3 low blow against Dortmund, many things point to 3rd place at the end of the season.
Dynamo is still without a win in the 2nd Bundesliga in 2022
In terms of sport, Dynamo would certainly be a beatable opponent if the Red Devils found their top form from games like Saarbrücken (3-1 despite being outnumbered), Duisburg (5-1) or Meppen (4-0). Because the SGD has not won a single (!) second division game in 2022. Zero wins face nine draws and six losses. Today, a 1-1 draw at home against Jahn Regensburg, who were also in trouble, finally sealed 16th place. There has also been trouble with their own fans in recent weeks.
First leg at the third division, second leg at second division Dresden
The first leg of the relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga will take place on Friday, May 20th, 2022 at 8:30 p.m. at the participant in the 3rd division – possibly in the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. The second leg takes place four days later on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 8:30 p.m. in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in Dresden. Similar to the European Cup, the away goal rule has now been abolished in relegation. The two games will be broadcast live on TV on “Sat1” (free TV) and “Sky” (pay TV).
