Dynamo Dresden: There is no season ticket boom for the 3rd division

SGD has sold 11,200 season tickets so far! Dynamo Dresden is satisfied with the season ticket sales, although more than 5000 tickets are still available.

Dresden – Only seven more days until it finally starts again. Dynamo Dresden starts against TSV 1860 Munich into the new one third division season – a real top game, but the (actually expected) rush to the tickets has not materialized so far.

Just over 17,000 tickets had been sold as of Friday night. That’s almost 60 percent. There is a comparable picture with the annual tickets. A week before the start of the league, around 11,200 tickets were sold to fans here.

Jürgen Wehlend (56) was nevertheless quite satisfied with the sales: “We are pleased that the first annual ticket sale since the 2019/2020 season after all the ghost games, after 19 games not won and after the logical relegation to the 3rd division got off to a comparatively good start,” says the commercial director.

However, if you compare the numbers with the years before, you will find that sales are rather sluggish, with 7,000 of the 17,000 tickets still being sold.

In 2020/21 and 2021/22 no annual tickets were offered, with the last edition for the 2019/20 season there was no free sale at all.

15,500 season ticket holders from the previous season had secured their place in advance, the remaining 1,500 went to the members a week and a half before the start of the season. The season before that was a similar picture.

Admittedly, in the two years Dynamo played a class higher and the times were not marked by great economic fears.

The SGD has therefore also decided “taking into account the generally difficult social and economic situation as a traditional member club not to make any price increases compared to the 2019/2020 season.”

A look at the Saxon neighbors, on the other hand, shows no downward trend. First division club RB Leipzig set a new record despite an average price increase of twelve percent: 32,200 tickets.

Dynamo’s league competitor FC Erzgebirge Aue has – as usual – just over 2,000 season tickets. Black and yellow therefore want to be at least number one in league three and win the first duel with the “lions”.

Because the current season ticket leader stopped selling at a symbolic 11,860 tickets. 11,953 tickets would be enough for that.
