“With the children at the Christmas tree, presents, very traditional”, that’s how the party went with Dynamo trainer Alexander Schmidt (53). After a wild year, skiing could tickle him again in the next few days …
“Well, if it comes up, please,” says the coach, explaining his hobby winter sport.
Small specialty: Schmidt also uses the short boards, which in theory allow you to get down the mountain faster. But he assures: “I’m more of the slow skier who comfortably descends and then sits on the ski hut from time to time.”
The Bavarian continues: “Unfortunately, there is always a lot going on in the Garmisch area around Christmas time. It’s not so much fun when you have to queue for ages at the ski lift. “
In return, Schmidt will perhaps think again by the end of the year what it was for a crazy twelve months.
At the beginning of 2021 he defeated championship leaders Dynamo 1-0 with Türkgücü. Four weeks later he was released from the Munich team.
Little known so far: According to BILD information, Schmidt was already on the verge of reaching an agreement with Halleschen FC at the end of April. There he was to inherit Florian Schnorrenberg. But then he won sensationally 3-0 in Dresden on April 24th.
That same evening, SGD sports director Ralf Becker called Schmidt. Asked if he was ready to take over for Markus Kauczinski, who was released the next morning.
The club changes almost overnight!
Instead of joining the HFC, the trainer sprints into the second division with a super series with Dynamo. There is also a roller coaster ride in the first half of the season. Nevertheless, Schmidt has a good starting position for the second half of the season and has been back on the big football stage this year. No wonder that he now takes a deep breath and says: “I’ll just switch off a little …”
