Dresden – Newly promoted Energie Cottbus missed out on its first point in the 3rd football league. The Lausitzers lost 2:4 (2:2) at Dynamo Dresden after leading 2:0. Energie took an early lead through Phil Halbauer (8th) and Tolcay Cigerci (12th). Stefan Kutschke (26th) converted a penalty and Tony Menzel (31st) equalized before half-time in front of 30,795 spectators in the sold-out Rudolf Harbig Stadium. Robin Meißner (78th) scored the preliminary goal before Philip Heise (90th+1) scored the final goal.
Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm made only one change to the starting lineup compared to the 2-1 win at Viktoria Köln. Captain Kutschke started in place of Christoph Daferner. Energie had to do without coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz, who was suspended for a red card. His deputy Tobias Röder sent out the same eleven that lost 2-1 to Arminia Bielefeld last week.
Cottbus attacks Dynamo
The promoted team from Lausitz started courageously with a good plan. When they won the ball, they attacked the opponent’s half with eight men, causing confusion at Dynamo, who had no clear direction. The lead came from a corner that was cleared too short, and the 2-0 came from a 40-meter shot by Cigerci into the empty goal. Keeper Tim Schreiber had served the shooter with a major bad pass.
Dynamo comes back quickly
There was reason to fear for the hosts, who had terrible coordination problems in defense and were slow and lacking in ideas when building up the game. It was only with the penalty – Maximilian Pronichev had held Claudio Kammerknecht by the shirt – that the Saxons woke up and quickly equalized with a great counterattack. In this wild first half, Dynamo were unlucky when Niko Bretschneider extended a header from Aljaz Casar onto the underside of the crossbar of their own goal (45.+1)
Dresden power play after the break
After the break, Dynamo was the only team to play. Energie were confined to their own half for 20 minutes. Menzel was involved in the opportunities that arose. The biggest chance, however, fell to substitute Daferner (68th minute), who slipped past a low pass from Robin Meißner. Cottbus waited for counter-attack opportunities, but they rarely materialized. In the end, Meißner’s header, after a near-own goal by Henry Rorig and Heise’s solo effort, deservedly decided the game for the hosts.
