Dynamo Dresden and their Supporters Break 3rd Division Attendance Record

The 3rd division broke its own attendance record last season. The supporters of Dynamo Dresden have played a large part in this.

Dresden – Stefan Kutschke (34) had simply “just left empty” after the exhausting final sprint in the 3. Liga felt. What the Dynamos and their fans experienced in the 2022/23 season was physically and mentally exhausting. Nevertheless, the support was there again in large numbers, especially in the second half of the season.

And it also set a new record! Because never before have so many people seen the 3rd division live in the stadium as in the past season.

A total of 3,115,602 fans flocked to the 380 games. That was an average of 8199 per game.

For the second time after the 2018/2019 season, the 3rd division broke the three million viewer mark. At that time, the previous record of 3,090,122 viewers (8132 on average) was set.

The fans of Dynamo Dresden probably have the greatest share in the fact that there were 25,480 more fans than four years ago.

The season finale against VfB Oldenburg alone was watched by 30,322 fans in Dresden – one of three games with more than 30,000 fans in the stadium. There were 30,808 in the home win against Aue on matchday 25 and 30,699 on matchday 31 against Rot-Weiss Essen. They only just missed the mark against Mannheim (33rd/29,210) and Wiesbaden (35th/29,693).

All in all, the SGD has an average audience of 24,532. Significantly less than in the third division season (before Corona) 2015/16.

Dynamo Dresden will be working with a new ticket provider in the future

It was an average of 27,545, but black and yellow is still the clear number one in league three this year. Essen with 16,442 and TSV 1860 Munich with 15,000 follow at a great distance.

“The crowd here has a fine sense of whether they’re giving their all or just letting things get over them. They should know that next season there will be a team on the pitch that will do everything for the club,” explains Stefan Kutschke.

The striker’s promise, and perhaps one more aspect, could ensure even greater popularity next season. Because Dynamo no longer works with the ticket platform Etix, which has been repeatedly criticized by many fans, but relies on the new provider SAP Event Ticketing from the 2023/2024 season.

football clubs like that Karlsruhe SC, Hansa Rostock and the TSG Hoffenheim are already working with the system, as are the basketball clubs Bayern Munich and MLP Academics Heidelberg.
